A day in Timișoara with children
The Children's Park and the interactive museum in the centre, then the Village Museum or the aquapark by car. The day's programme, not the accommodation listing.
This guide covers the programme for a day with children. Choosing the apartment — bedrooms, kitchen, parking — remains in Accommodation for families in Timișoara. The sights, without this order, are in Top 10 places to visit in Timișoara.
A well-used day has two stops, not five. The centre is walked. The Village Museum and the aquapark require a car and do not belong in the same morning.
In the centre, on foot
The Children's Interactive Museum (MIC) is in the Maria Theresia Bastion, Gallery B2, Strada Hector 2, beside Union Square. The space has about 400 square metres of installations, puzzles, and sensory areas, and is recommended for children from 10 months to 12 years. A ticket for a child aged 1.5 and over is 35 lei, and an adult ticket is 15 lei. The family ticket, for two to four people, is 60 lei, and each additional member costs 20 lei. Children under 1.5 enter free of charge. Admission is free on the last Wednesday of the month. The stated visiting capacity is 60 people per hour. The day's schedule is published on the museum's website and may change for workshops or public holidays. Parking on Strada Hector is limited. A pushchair is allowed in the building, not in the exhibition areas.
Ion Creangă Children's Park is the public play park in the centre, on the bank of the Bega canal, between the Michelangelo bridge and Constantin Diaconovici Loga Boulevard, opposite Rose Park. Admission is free. The park has equipped play areas, including climbing structures, a zip line, and slides. Rose Park, on the other side of the canal, is a walk, not a playground.
The two can be covered in the same morning. The museum requires the interval announced for that day. The park takes the rest of the walk.
When the weather rules out a walk
Energy Kids is an indoor play space in Iulius Town, Piața Consiliul Europei 2, of more than 1,400 square metres. It has areas for ages 1–3 and 3–12, and trampolines from age 4. The operator's published hours are daily, from 10:00 to 22:00. On the venue's website, one hour is 40 lei and unlimited access is 60 lei. Fares should be confirmed before the visit.
MINA (Museum of Immersive New Art) operates in Iulius Town and is a projection museum, not a playground. Among the shows, the one devoted to dinosaurs suits children. A child's ticket is 40 lei. The family ticket, for two adults and two children, is 160 lei. Children under 3 enter free of charge. The published hours cover Wednesday to Friday, 11:00–20:35, and Saturday to Sunday, 10:00–20:55. The exhibition is announced through the end of 2026. The show on the day of the visit should be checked, because the programme can change.
By car, outside the centre
The Banat Village Museum is in Pădurea Verde, in the north-east of the city. It is an open-air museum, with homesteads, a wooden church, and a school. Between 25 October and 15 March, the hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 09:00–17:00. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday. The last tickets are issued 45 minutes before closing. Children under 14 may enter only with an adult. The journey is not a walk from Union Square.
Amazonia Aquapark is at Strada Avram Imbroane 56, in the same direction, towards Pădurea Verde. It is open daily, from 09:00 to 21:00. The indoor area has water heated to 32–33°C, slides, and a slow-current circuit, so it remains usable in the cold season. The family package starts at 260 lei, for a minimum of two adults and one to three children. The full tariff is published on the aquapark's website. The complex has its own car park. A visit takes half a day and is not combined, on the same morning, with the museum.
For older children
Beat Se7en is an arena with an interactive LED floor, in the Modex building on Opera Square, Piața Iancu Huniade 3, second floor. A session lasts 40 minutes and is played in teams of two to six. The displayed fare is 65 lei per person. Hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 13:00–22:00. The venue is closed on Monday and Tuesday. The game is physically demanding. It is not recommended for people with epilepsy, sensitivity to light, or recent injuries, and it is not suitable for young children.
Outside the city
Drimoland is not in Timișoara. It is in Ghiroda, at Strada Orizont 23, and is worth mentioning only if the day is free and the journey is by car. It has about 4,000 square metres indoors and 10,000 square metres outdoors. The hours published on its website are Monday to Friday, 12:00–21:00, and Saturday to Sunday, 10:00–21:00. Admission for children is 75 lei, and 45 lei after 18:00.
What does not belong in the programme
The Zoo in Pădurea Verde has been closed to the public since 2020 and is not a destination to visit.
The boats on the Bega run seasonally. Societatea de Transport Public Timișoara resumed services on 1 April 2026, at a fare of 5 lei per journey. The timetable is not reproduced here. It should be checked on the operator's website on the day of travel.
Where the stay makes sense
If the day is spent at the museum in the Bastion and in the Children's Park, the base is the centre: Visaj Downtown, on Union Square. If the day is spent at Iulius Town, the base is Torontalului. If the evening needs to be quiet, and the journeys are by car, to the museum or the aquapark, the base is Giroc. The differences between apartments are in Accommodation for families in Timișoara.
